Cataloging

Logtek offers a complete Cataloging and Standardization service. The majority of our Technicians have over 20 years of experience in Department of Defense (DoD) Cataloging and Standardization organizations. They are knowledgeable in the NATO and Federal Logistics Information System (FLIS) standards of operations and have been actively working in the areas of assigning new National Stock Numbers (NSN’s), maintenance of existing NSN’s, and creation of the Technical Characteristics Data associated with DoD stock numbered items. All of our Technicians understand the Data Elements contained in FLIS and how to interpret them for use in your systems.

Our Technicians are experts in the process of Item Entry Control, which consists of determining if the item under review is currently in the NSN Catalog, or if it requires a new NSN (or Local Stock Number) to be assigned. We use our Characteristics Search functionality to determine if there are other items in the FLIS NSN Catalog that have the same Form, Fit, and Function as the item being considered for a new NSN (or Local Stock Number in your system), to prevent duplicate items from being introduced into the Catalog. This functionality also allows us to find replacement items if an item is no longer available for purchase through your normal supply channels. DoD has established that it takes an investment of $20,000 to create a new item for introduction to their Catalog. Our Standardization processes allow us to ensure that only those items that are unique to your applications get added to your Catalog. Also, the FLIS data offers a significant number of additional sources for items currently in their inventory, which will make your purchase of these items easier and offer some pricing options for your company.

Our Cataloging and Standardization Technicians are dedicated to ensuring that your data is correct, concise, and offers the best value for your internal processes. We are able to map the FLIS data to your system to ensure that the most efficiency is derived from the data. We have worked projects to add an interface with FLIS to ensure that the data is available to your systems and kept current with changes as they occur. We look forward to working with you to make sure your Parts Management Processes are as efficient as possible.
